Community of Practice

The GDP community is comprised of three types of dialogue practitioners:  process experts, dialogue promoters, and problem owners.  Through a self-directed program of action learning activities, this group will define, develop, and promote the practice of dialogic change. We expect that this community will advance the understanding and use of dialogic change processes much more rapidly than would be possible with everyone working separately.

Process experts are working within various disciplines, such as peace building, negotiation, mediation, participatory action research, and multi-stakeholder dialogue, and in various fields of endeavor, such as global network building, intersectoral collaboration, conflict prevention, and democracy building.

Dialogue promoters are individuals with positional responsibility for advancing the use of multi-stakeholder partnerships and dialogic approaches. These are people in high-level positions in business, government, and civil society who are trying to move their organizations towards more collaborative, dialogic approaches to problem solving.

Problem owners have positional responsibility for achieving results in specific global issue areas such as environmental protection and the provision of goods and services to meet basic human needs. Together, dialogue promoters and the problem owners have the visibility and influence to extend the impact of the GDP into the global business community, intergovernmental institutions, and global civil society organizations.

So far, we have assembled an initial core group of advanced dialogue practitioners, who are helping us move forward to expand the community and plan its activities. Click below to see the list of people in the core group.
